Snow Day

Our first snow of 2017 and it’s supposed to be a crazy one. The weather stations were saying that a storm was coming but wouldn’t start until late tonight and be gone by at least 10am Saturday morning. However, the snow started pouring in at around 1:15pm this afternoon and has not stopped since. This is just showers ahead of the storm. But don’t worry y’all- I’ve got my bread and milk! 😉

Since it looks like I will snowed in tomorrow I plan to organize my bedroom closet. I bought a bunch of white hangers so I can color coordinate. I also bought teal colored hangers so I can do L’s closet, too.

After organizing I will finish reading “In Search of Eden” by Linda Nichols, which is a great read by the way, and have a mug of hot chocolate. What are you reading? What’s next on your to read list?

New Buddy!

The newest Scentsy Buddy was just released and she is absolutely adorable!

Meet Sweetie Pie the Lamb! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Sweetie Pie offers her heart and an adorable pink flower with heart-shaped petals for you and your someone special.
A velvety polka-dot pattern lines her ears, topped with a festive dark pink bow. Magnets help her clasp her hands together to “hold” her cherished flower.
She comes with a free Scent Pak of your choice. But hurry! She’s limited and will sell out fast!

Happy New Year!
Where did last year go? It seems every year comes and goes so fast. There are so many things I want to do in 2017! One of them being to finally put my jewelry on Etsy. I’ve been making jewelry for years so I think it’s time I start actually letting others see it.

Another goal for 2017 is to grow my Scentsy business. I plan to blog about specials every month as well as sales when they come up.

Another goal for this year is to blog! I’ve had this blog for a while but never could seem to find time to write. This year I plan to make time.

What are your goals for 2017?

Let’s Start Over

It has been quite a while since I have posted here on this blog. Life happened and a darkness spread over me. I fell into a deep depression and just could not work myself out of it no matter the amount of medication. I think that was the longest time I’ve been in the dark. My depression comes and goes, and I’m happy to say that right now it has lifted. It’s been about a year since I’ve felt like I wanted to sleep my entire life away. Finally I am having  good days and can get out of bed! I am able to be mom and do mom things. You don’t realize what you really miss until the darkness shuts them out. We take so much for granted. I feel like I loose so much of my life when I am in the darkness.

But God. He decided it was time for my rest to be over. There’s no other explanation for coming out of my depression. Medication could not help me. Sure it would help for about a month and after that it would wear off. If the dosage went higher I felt lower. I just wanted to sleep. I loved my bed and sleep more than anything.

But God got me out! God turned the light on. And for that I am very, very thankful!

“And now my life sleeps away. Depression haunts my days.” – Job 30:16

“Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” – Psalm 126:5

Christmas Time is Near!

Can you believe it is almost Christmas already? Where did the time go? It seems like just a few weeks ago I was shopping and wrapping presents! And here I am doing it again. But I love it! I actually love to wrap my daughter’s presents because I cannot wait to see the look on her face when she opens the boxes. She believes only clothes come in boxes so I mix it up a little and put toys or stationary or jewelry in boxes. Then at least I know she will be excited to open all the boxes, even if it is just clothes! Do your kids do anything like this?

Baking is one of my favorite things to do for the holiday season. I love making candy! This year I plan to made red velvet cake balls. Yum! I also hope to make some hard candy in cinnamon and peppermint. I love hard candy. I’m practically addicted! My granddaddy used to make Applesauce Cake every year. He got sick with cancer and passed away, but my grandma carried on the tradition until she passed away a few years ago. Christmas just is not the same without the Applesauce Cake. Christmas just is not the same without my grandparents. Do you have a certain cake or food that has been a family tradition?

Christmas has always been so magical to me. Yes, even at my age I still find Christmas a magical time. For as long as I can remember my family has celebrated Christmas Eve by first going to my grandparents house and having dinner, then opening presents. After all the excitement there we head to my parent’s house for Christmas candy and cakes, then open more presents. We then head home to put the kids to bed so that we can wait patiently for Santa to come. Christmas morning we wake up and have breakfast and open our presents and the kids get to see what Santa brought them. Then we head to my other set of grandparent’s house where we have Christmas lunch. The kids have more presents waiting for them there! (You can imagine what my house looks like after Christmas!) After finally heading home exhausted, we have one more Christmas – my in-laws. After all the excitement I am more than exhausted! But I love all of it! What are your family traditions?

Of course while running around like crazy every year, I still take a moment to stop and remember why we celebrate this season – our Lord Jesus Christ. What do you do to make sure Jesus is remembered during this stressful time of year?

True Love

A couple of years ago my daughter found a kitten outside of our house. She bent down to her knees, put out her little hands and said “Come here kitty kitty.” The cat came right to her and has been with her ever since. His name: Catlitter. Original huh?

Catlitter and my daughter have been inseparable. He is an outside cat, which does not go over too well with my daughter. However, when you scratch my furniture and pee on my couch you will not live in my house. The sound of an opening door summons Catlitter to immediately tangle himself between your feet. He allows my daughter to pick him up and carry him around, no matter what position this might be in. He loves her so very much. No matter what she does to him, he is immediately forgiving and loves her unconditionally.

This made me think of God’s unconditional love for us. He is such a forgiving and loving Lord. He gave His only son so that we may have eternal life. Now that is true love!
